Independent Mental Health Counselors Serving East Snohomish County and Beyond
"The only proper response to vulnerability is reverence."
I believe strongly in a collaborative approach in which together we identify, explore, and work to replace old (often unconscious) patterns of thinking and behaving that negatively affect your most important interactions and relationships with new ways of responding that are more flexible, adaptable, satisfying, energized and stable.
Within the counseling process I draw from a variety of counseling approaches, theories and protocols. I most frequently use CIMBS (Complex integration of Multiple Brain Systems) and Lifespan Integration (LI) (website links listed below). I also use Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Psycho-dynamic Therapy, and Psycho-education to help clients reach their stated treatment goals.
I participate in ongoing training in CIMBS, LI, & Interpersonal Neurobiology. I have advanced training in EMDR, DBT, Domestic Violence, and the Gottman Institute for Marraige Counseling.

I was a high school teacher and coach, and then middle school teacher, for over 20 years. In 1990, I returned to graduate school at Seattle University where I completed my Master of Counseling degree in 1994. I completed my 2 year/2000 hour supervised post graduate requirements with George Sayre and Associates, in Monroe, WA, becoming fully licensed in 1996. I have been in private practice ever since.
I LOVE what I do. I am honored every day with clients who trust me with their most sacred vulnerability. I heard a basketball coach who was dying tell an audience, "Every day - laugh, learn, and be moved to tears." I get to do these very things every single day as I work with people who are so incredibly courageous, strong, and determined to live healthier, more harmonious lives. I am awed and inspired every single day. I believe we are either both moved and impacted by this amazing process - the counseling relationship - or neither of us is.
